AATCC Testing & Standards Exhibition

April 16-18, 2024

Introducing the AATCC Testing & Standards Exhibition! AATCC will host a Testing & Standards Exhibition throughout Functional Fabric Fair Spring and will feature apparatus and educational displays in five key topic areas:

  • Visual Color Evaluation
  • Fiber Fragment Testing
  • Appearance & Laundering
  • Water Resistance
  • Control Fabrics

This display will be located in room G129 and is open to everyone, no additional registration is needed (you must have your show badge present).

Visual Color Evaluation

Experience first-hand how light, surround, and other factors impact color. Test your vision for color blindness and small difference acuity. Evaluate tested samples in a visual color booth using official AATCC Gray Scales. See and learn about tools, techniques, and training that can improve your color approval and colorfastness programs.

Fiber Fragment Testing

So-called “microfibers” are tiny fragments making big news. Fiber fragments can break off or come loose from textile yarns and fabrics in production, use, and laundering. The fragments find their way to waterways, remote mountaintops, and human tissue. Quantifying this problem is the first step in addressing it. Get hands-on practice with laboratory test apparatus for measuring fiber fragment release in laundering.

Appearance & Laundering

Wash and dry cycles are important parts of the lifecycle for many textile products. Explore the variables in the laundering process—and how to control them. Laundering can impact the size, shape, color, and smoothness of textiles. Get to know the specialized test methods and tools that ensure dependable results and good approval decisions. Plus, find out how AATCC detergents and test methods support your sustainability initiatives.

Water Resistance

Many textiles and textile products claim water repellent or fluid resistant properties. Compare two of the common test methods used to verify these claims. Put your own fabrics through the Spray or Impact Penetration Test. Examine differences in blotting paper and other details for PPE and outerwear testing. Educate yourself on resources to ensure confidence in your performance and RSL compliance claims.

Control Fabrics

Reliable testing means regularly verifying apparatus and operator performance. Control fabrics are specially developed materials that give consistent results when testing is performed properly and indicate when testing is done improperly. Ask the experts your questions about Blue Wool for lightfastness or the new yellow Chlorine Test Fabric. See how calibrating spectrophotometers with a textile UV standard can improve supply chain alignment and avoid costly approval errors.
